It also needs 512 MB of RAM and a 1.5 GHZ processor, although a slighly-faster 1.8 GHz chip will provide better performance.

The free version only requires 1 to 1.5 GB of space, though it lacks the business editions firewall software, server protection tools, remote administration tools and included technical support.

Symantec Symantecs small business anti-virus program requires 300 MB to install.

The program, Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 2013, works on every version of Windows from XP through Windows 8, and requires 256 MB of RAM and a 1 GHz processor for Windows Vista, 7, or 8.

Its server edition is more demanding, taking up 750 MB of drive space and working best with a 2.0 GHz chip on 64-bit systems.

McAfee McAfees small-business anti-virus product SaaS Endpoint Protection stands apart from other anti-virus packages because it runs in the cloud and therefore does not require any disk space.

If you want to install McAfee software on your computer, though, instead of using a cloud-based program, McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013 requires 500 MB of hard disk space.

While the 24.99 one-year license for AntiVirus Plus is less expensive than Endpoints 34.99 price, Endpoint is also sold with discounted extended licenses or in multi-seat configurations.
